Calcium Sulfide (CaS) is a white powder. It is slightly soluble in water and alcohol. It can hydrolyze when it meets water or moisture. It decomposes rapidly when it meets acid and releases hydrogen sulfide gas. It precipitates sulfur when it reacts with chlorine and iodine. It can be doped with different metal ions to be made into phosphorescent materials, which are widely used in luminescent paints, phosphors, and optical devices.
